Some of our younger club members went to race at the Denton (NTK) sprint kart track for the 3rd and 4th rounds of the South West Regional Cup event. It ended up being an amazing weekend with HCKC racers doing well in everything but Chonda.

For those that have never been to NTK it is a longer sprint track compared to ours, and features several banked corners along with a chicane, and two longer straights. The track is quite fun to drive, and the racing action was exceedingly fun to watch.
Trenton Estep stormed to 2nd place in Mini-Max, after mounting a tough chase to get there. He had fallen back a few seconds early at the start, the first corner provided some nail biting moves as the kids fought for position. Trenton kept his head down and his tires cool as he chased the kart in 2nd, with only a handful of laps remaining he was able to make a pass attempt going into the hairpin. He made it stick and then set off to chase 1st place. Trenton also grabbed 1st on Saturday in TaG Cadet I, congratulations for a great run!
Kaleb Haseloff in his first run outside of HCKC managed 3rd place in TaG Cadet I on both days, his smooth driving helped him pull away from 4th. As always with Kaleb it is hard to tell what he is thinking, but he finally did tell me he was having lots of fun. Mostly in the form of nods and smiles.
Again we won’t talk about Chonda, but a word of caution, after you go through tech make sure you pay attention to how a part came off the engine—make sure you put that part back on correctly. Logan Bearden came back to take 1st in TaG Junior after chasing down the leader from around fifteen kart lengths back. This race was never boring and the passing action was hot. Logan also grabbed 2nd on Saturday. Michael D’herde raced hard to get 2nd on both days in TaG Cadet I, setting the best time of the day on Sunday.
Colin Russell took 7th on Sunday in Mini-Max, this was the largest class at the event with 15 karts running ultra competitive times. In talking with club members over the last few days, I understand a rather large group from HCKC will going to the next SWRC race. Congratulations to all, and best of luck at the next event!

Interested in getting in close on the racing action, come ask about one of the many volunteer positions that are needed on race days.
